If someone just mentions the phrase ‘the Seven
Wonders’, it immediately reminds us of the Seven Wonders
of the Ancient World and the Seven Wonders of the Modern
World. There are books, articles, websites, videos and
movie shows to list and explain these Seven Wonders of
the Ancient and Modern Worlds. However, no one seriously
thinks of God’s Seven Wonders for Us, which in no way is
comparable to the destructible Seven Wonders of this
world.
Even a third or fourth grader is familiar with the
names of the world’s seven wonders. When we talk of
ancient times, we have a lot to tell about the Hanging
Gardens of Babylon or the Lighthouse of Alexandria. And
who in these modern times does not like to walk over the
Great Wall of China, which is visible to our astronauts
from Space Stations or to marvel at the Leaning Tower of
Pisa in Italy? In the midst of the glittering world,
many of us forget the real and true Seven Wonders of
God. This message is shared for the purpose of listing
them and making the reader understand the majesty of our
God.
1. God’s Creation
The Bible starts with the wonderful creation of God.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth.” “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the
firmament shows His handiwork” (Psalms 19:1). Every
creation of God declares His Majesty and His Glory. Look
at the heaven and see the marvelous creations such as
sun, moon, planets and stars. Look at the sky and see
the colorful birds that fly above. Look around you to
see the seas, rivers, hills, valleys, grasslands, plants
and animals – all of these created by God.
Finally, look at yourself created in God’s own image.
King David in Psalms 139:14 sings – “I will praise You,
for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are
Your works.” Nothing in the world matches the creation
of man because God made him in His own image and also
loved him and made him the ruler over every other
creature.
2. God’s Word
The Word of God is presented today as Holy Bible in
our hands. There is no comparison to His Word because
“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God
and the Word was God” (John 1:1). The Word manifested in
the flesh as God’s only Son Jesus. Is there anything
more comfortable in this world than reading His precious
Word and knowing our Savior Jesus more intimately? The
more we read, the more we become closer to
Him.
His Word is settled in heaven. Moses received the Law
for the Israelites, but Jesus crucified the Law on the
cross to change the Word into Grace. If any one neglects
the gracious Word of God today, the Word will bring
judgment to that person in eternity (John 12:
47,48).
3. God’s Provision
Not only does God excel as the Creator, He dominates
as the Provider of all His creatures. Jesus our Lord
told His disciple, “Look at the birds of the air, for
they neither sow nor reap nor gather in barns; yet your
heavenly Father feeds them….The heavenly Father knows
that you need all these things (food, clothes etc.)”
(Matthew 6:26,32). Even in the harsh wilderness where
there was no possibility of food, Jehovah the Lord of
Israel provided ‘manna’ from heaven to the Israelites.
When we pray, “Lord, give us this day our daily
bread”, He will graciously extend His helping hands to
meet all our needs. Jesus questioned His audience “If
you being evil know how to give good gifts to your
children, how much more will your Father who is in
heaven give good things to those who ask Him?”
4. God’s Protection
Another promising wonder in a Christian’s life is the
protection that God provides for His children. In any
kind of circumstances, one feels the protecting presence
of God while reading Psalms 91st chapter. Read the most
assuring verses 9 & 10- “Because you have made the
Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your
dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any
plague come near your dwelling.” Do you not feel the
Angel of the Lord standing very close to you?
In Egypt the Hebrews applied the Blood of the
Passover Lamb to their doorposts to keep the Angel of
Death away from their houses. Now we have a more secured
protection in the Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. When
this precious Blood is applied, we are safe in the hands
of our Lord and no enemy can touch us.
5. God’s Love
God is Love. God’s Love is the Salvation Plan for man
through His Son Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the
world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting
life” (John 3:16). This is an astonishing wonder that
the Creator worked out redemption for the lost man by
subjecting Himself to humility on the Cross.
It is sorrowful that many people today reject such a
loving salvation plan of God. Jesus is the love gift of
God to mankind. There is no salvation possible with out
Jesus. Every true follower of Christ is filled with love
of God in his heart. Such a person loves God and he
loves all the people in the world.
6. God’s Helper
Jesus promised a Helper for His children after His
ascension. “I will pray to the Father and He will give
you another Helper that He may abide with you forever –
the Spirit of Truth” (John 14:16,17). The Comforter Holy
Spirit descended over the gathered disciples of Christ
on Pentecost Day to stay with the New Testament Church.
To this day, the Helper helps every one of God’s
children in all walks of their lives.
The existence of the Church is by the presence and
power of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit brings to us the
glorious presence of God and the overflowing power of
God. The presence of God gives us the Fruit of the
Spirit and the power of God gives us the Gifts of the
Spirit. By these the Christians take victory over the
world and Satan. Without the Wonderful Holy Spirit to
guide us everyday, a believer may feel left alone in his
faith battle.
7. God’s Eternity
The promise of an eternal life is the most
interesting factor. If we serve the One who overcame
death, then it is a true promise to all the followers of
Christ that they will repeat the Master’s triumph. Jesus
said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in
Me has everlasting life” (John 6:47).
If a person accepts Jesus as personal Savior,
repents and forsakes all sins, believes the Word of God,
walks according to His commandments and lives a holy
life, it is one hundred percent certain that he/she will
be with the Lord in Heaven rejoicing with all the Holy
Angels and Saints of God. On the contrary, if
he/she is rebellious and continues in a sinful life,
there is an eternal hell waiting for such a person.
There is no doubt that any reader will prefer heaven to
hell.
